Wherever you are and whatever you’re celebrating, I hope you and your family have had a safe and happy holiday. This is my final post of 2012, and I’d like to share with you something I started doing a few years ago when working on my master’s degree.
Every year since 2009, I’ve chosen a theme (mission) for the upcoming year. For 2009, I chose the theme transition because our home became an “empty nest” (our oldest son had been away at college for a few years and our youngest son had just joined the Air Force). My 2010 theme was learning because I had completed my master’s degree and I was ready to apply what I had learned. In 2011, innovation was my goal when I started writing this blog to share my thoughts on leadership and performance. Going into 2012 I focused on overcoming resistance through simpler and more effective goal-setting (Pressfield’s book Do The Work was a great help). Which brings me to the coming year.
My theme for 2013 is reach and grow. I want to build more on my writing and teaching by improving my blog, delivering more classes on leadership and performance, and starting a mentoring group. So the coming year looks to be a busy one!
I’m grateful for everything in 2012, and I am eager to get going on some new challenges for 2013. Thanks for being a part of FireGroundWorks.
